How the figures are counted
Each car is counted once, based on its chassis number. The figures are based on MG Rover factory data and RDW & VWE open data and are updated several times a week.
Every car belongs to one of four groups, based on its recorded status: current, exported, scrapped or invalid. Cars not recorded as scrapped, exported or invalid count as current and are included in the number of cars that still exist, although some may no longer be on the road, for example because they are being restored. If a car is recorded as both scrapped and exported, it is counted as scrapped.
In the tables, “Total” represents all cars that have ever been recorded in the RDW data, while “Current” represents cars not recorded as scrapped, exported or invalid and “Share” indicates the percentage of current cars in that table that belong to the relevant category.
